Potkejme se, poznejme se a nepřestávejme mluvit o Palestině!

Jak jsme slíbili na posledním protestu, příště se setkáme v teple!

Rádi bychom se s vámi potkali v přátelské atmosféře, kde bychom mohli mluvit o Palestině a sdílet naše i vaše pocity z aktivismu, politiky, hnutí a načrtnout si další směřování.

A máme pro vás i zajímavé hosty!

Právě jsme míjeli výročí povstání Arabského jara. A v Praze je naše kamarádka, arabistka, která dlouhá léta učila v Anglii a část života také prožila v Egyptě a účastnila se protestů na Tahríru. Lucka se s námi ráda podělí nejen o zážitky, ale také cenné zkušenosti. Víte, že Tahrírem se inspirovalo Occupy Wallstreet?

Protože víme a cítíme, že mnoho z vás i nás po více než dvou letech sledování inferna v Gaze, českých médií a vlády, kde jdeme z bláta do louže, bojuje s vyhořením marnosti, tak máme velkou radost, že se k nám večer přidá i Hanan a pohladí nás na duši.

A já, Jana, se s vámi podělím o moje aktivistické začátky s Jewish Voice for Peace v New Yorku, kde jsem chodila na semestr o sionismu, který společně vedli židovští a palestinští studenti. Když jsem se vracela do Prahy, tak Izrael začal bombardovat Gazu a říkal tomu operace Lité olovo. To léto jsem se do Gazy podívala jako novinářka s delegací Evropské unie, které tehdy ČR předsedala.... a pak jsme založili SPP a přivezli Normana Finkelsteina. To bylo zemětřesení až na vládě, ale o tom až na setkání!

Let's meet, let's share thoughts, and let's NOT sop talking about Palestine!

As we promised at the last protest, next time we’ll meet somewhere warm!

We’d love to meet you in a friendly atmosphere where we can talk about Palestine and share our feelings—both ours and yours—about activism, politics, and movements, and sketch out where to go next.

And we have some interesting guests for you too!
We’ve just passed the anniversary of the Arab Spring uprising. And our friend—an Arabist who taught for many years in England and also spent part of her life in Egypt—is currently in Prague. She took part in the protests in Tahrir Square, and Lucka is happy to share not only her experiences but also valuable insights. Did you know that Occupy Wall Street was inspired by Tahrir?

Because we know and feel that many of you—and us too—after more than two years of watching the inferno in Gaza, Czech media, and the government, where it feels like jumping from the frying pan into the fire, are struggling with burnout and a sense of futility, we’re very happy that Hanan will also join us in the evening and soothe our souls.

And I, Jana, will share with you my activist beginnings with Jewish Voice for Peace in New York, where I attended a semester-long course on Zionism co-taught by Jewish and Palestinian students. When I returned to Prague, Israel began bombing Gaza and called it Operation Cast Lead. That summer I visited Gaza as a journalist with a European Union delegation, at a time when the Czech Republic held the EU presidency… and then we founded SPP and brought Norman Finkelstein to Prague. That caused an earthquake all the way up to the government—but more about that at the meeting!

We will probably hold the meeting in English if many dont speak Czech or if everyone understands English, as it's mostly the case. And dont worry, if it's in Czech, others will translate. Let's hang out.
