Join us for "Sounds before Pogrom: Age, Style, and Violence in the 1980s and 1990s GDR and ČSSR," a public talk exploring intergenerational relations, (sub)cultural transfer, and the sonic landscape of late socialist and post-socialist societies. Featuring Katha Alexi (Leuphana University Lüneburg) and Ondřej Daniel (Charles University), the discussion will float around punk, oi!, racist chants on the streets and in stadiums, the mediatization of 'fascho youth' and the role of sound in fostering solidarity networks that negotiated their violence.
